What’s a wench anyway?

Wench is actually a British term that was coined somewhere between the 19^th century and the early 20^th.  This term actually carried a negative connotation as it referred to a woman of the lower class, the poor.  So it was only natural that people would tend to look down on them.  The other reason why a wench was thought ill of is that if not known for being poor, being called a wench meant that you were being called a promiscuous woman and a tease- two other things that were highly frowned upon, especially during that era.

The same pretty much goes for pirate wenches.  These women were known for showing off their assets by wearing tight corsets and bodices that accentuated the curves and revealed their bosoms.  They would flaunt what they had and they were one hundred percent confident that they could please who ever they, well, pleased.
